Diving in Bonaire

Bonaire, with its fringing reef in close proximity to the shore, about 80 official dive sites, calm waters and good visibility has something to offer for every diver. At Buddy Dive, our custom dive boats invite you to explore the beautiful marine life during a guided dive, or enjoy the convenience of our unique Drive Thru to explore the island’s underwater world at your own pace.

Bonaire’s waters offer something special for every diver. Novice divers will appreciate the calm waters while diving in Bonaire, reefs that run parallel to shore, and minimal currents. These conditions make it an ideal location to really work on improving those buoyancy skills! And the abundance of marine life living along the shallow drop-off area of the reef slope allows for maximum bottom time, while giving new divers an opportunity to develop a level of comfort and confidence in their newly learned skills.

Certified Assistant

The combination of solid professional training and spontaneous initiative in a Certified Assistant creates a comfortable and effective learning environment for student divers and ideal efficiency for the Instructor’s teaching scenario. Buddy Dive's Career Development Center is working with a Certified Assistant together with the Instructor for every Instructor Development Course.

Having a Certified Assistant available to help with equipment and course preparation has a lot of value to an Instructor. As the confined water session progresses the Certified Assistant makes himself/herself useful as an aid in managing the students underwater and an extra pair of eyes to increase the safety of the lesson. Also, having an assistant for demonstrations make the confined water session easy, as well as safe, for the Instructor to teach.

It is no secret that many student divers feel more comfortable approaching the Certified Assistant for consultation during training sessions than the Instructor. The assistant creates a friendly conduit between the student and the Instructor and provides a teamwork atmosphere. Having someone that produces a relaxed tone makes learning easy and more importantly fun. Having a second person there in the role of an assistant to bounce ideas off of for unusual or difficult teaching situations is also excellent for both the student and Instructor. It increases the productivity and enjoyment of the class.

The role of a Certified Assistant in training sessions is crucial. For a larger class especially, having an assistant to aid the Instructor is key in keeping the class running smoothly. PADI Instructors training people who will eventually become diving staff should take care to create a professional who will carry out this vital role effectively. A certified assistant who is hardworking, exemplifies role model behavior, and has a great sense of humor and sociable nature will take an Instructor’s course to the next level.
