In order to protect our environment and beautiful reefs we as Buddy Dive initiated some ecological projects. The first new project we introduced is the towel recycling system. As a guest of Buddy Dive you will find in your bathroom a towel saving sign. When a towel is dirty just put it on the floor and it will be replaced by our housekeeping staff. If you like to use the towel again we kindly ask you to not put them on the floor and we will not change them for you. This way we would like to avoid towels getting washed without being necessary in order to have less waste water and chemicals being used. Thank you for helping saving our environment!
To stay with the topic: ‘keep your environment clean’, Stinapa started a campaign to collect old batteries on the island. Buddy Dive is joining the project , so if you have any old batteries please hand them in at our front office or dive shop and we will make sure they will not end up in our garbage.
More environmental initiatives will follow soon. We keep you updated! |

At the beginning of July Buddy Dive Resort had the honor to welcome the plenary player group of soccer club NEC from a town in Holland called Nijmegen, together with their coach Mario Been. NEC is a professional soccer team, that plays on European level. Therefore it’s very unique that they accepted the invitation and came to play a game against the Bonairean team that has been united especially for this occasion. During their one week stay NEC offered several clinics to the youth of Bonaire, besides their daily intensive trainings in the stadium of Kralendijk. The big match of the Bonairean team versus NEC was won by NEC with a monster victory of 0 – 13. Besides all the training there was still time for the soccer players for entertainment and exploration of the island. After a couple of snorkeling trips, a part of the player group and staff decided to do the PADI program Discover Scuba Diving at Buddy Dive to truly experience the underwater world on Bonaire. Full of enthusiasm concerning everything they’ve seen during diving, the players decided to spend their second holiday ‘under water’ as well and they told us that NEC will be back next year at Buddy Dive! |

In July, 30 new beach chairs arrived to replace some of our older ones and to create more “chilling” places on our beaches.
The first 40 foot container arrived at Buddy Dive with new furniture for the rooms. Within 1 day 20 rooms had a new couch, chair, TV table, coffee table, diner table and diner chairs. Within the next two weeks the next container will arrive with more nice new furniture.
- On the 15th of September we had a very unfortunate accident in our kitchen. One of our fryers got on fire and burned our kitchen partly down. Luckily nobody got hurt and we only have material damage. To make sure our guests can still have breakfast, lunch and some theme nights in our restaurant we created a temporary kitchen outside at our bbq area. At the moment we are working very hard to renovate our kitchen back to normal. We would like to thank our guests for their understanding and their support during that week. -
Also good news:
In May next year Paul & Michelle (both General Managers of Buddy Resort) will get married on Bonaire. Michelle has been proposed by Paul a few months ago after a fun night at happy hour at Buddy Dive, but the date wasn’t finalized yet. Paul & Michelle are now happy to announce they’ll get married on the 27th of May 2009. |

Last week one of our repeat guests visited the island for the 10th time and received an ambassador’s award. If you also visit the island for the tenth time or even more just let us know and we will arrange the award for you too. Our tourism board of Bonaire will officially hand them out to you at Buddy Dive. - Last week was regatta week on Bonaire. Every year, during the regatta, they organize a boat parade with working boats which Buddy Dive joins with one of our dive boats. The nicest decorated boat will win a price…. |
